PTO Auger – Typically good for holes up to 24” in diameter.This is a standalone unit that can be towed behind a vehicle. Towable Hydraulic Auger – Good for holes up to 18” in diameter.It requires two people to operate, both of whom need to be in relatively good physical shape. 2-Man Auger – Good for holes up to 18” in diameter.Here are several common types of augers that could work: 1-man power augers are too small for a project like this, since they typically have a maximum diameter of 8”.
